"Senior sources inside the Canadian defence and aerospace industry are girding themselves for a government decision next week that they believe is almost sure to favour the controversial F-35. CBC News has learned the Conservative government is expected to make a final decision as soon as next Tuesday, followed soon after by an announcement that will put an end to the debate about whether to hold a competition to buy new fighter planes or to renew the $45-billion plan to sole-source the purchase of F-35s." "Des documents d'information du Pentagone révèlent que le Canada a signalé à Washington son intention d'acheter au moins quatre chasseurs furtifs F-35, mais un porte-parole de la ministre des Travaux publics Diane Finley a assuré vendredi qu'aucune décision n'avait été prise." (Source 2)

"A new U.S. government report lends support to Canada’s wait-and-see approach toward the F-35 stealth fighter. In its report released this week, the U.S. Government Accountability Office says progress has been made on some of the problems that have plagued the controversial jet fighter’s development for years. These include designing a new pilot’s helmet and fixing an issue that resulted in cracks in the aircraft’s frame." (Source 3)
