Real Change: A New Plan For a Strong Middle Class (page 17)


This promise was considered in the works when the government initiated a consultation process.  The government published the final consultation report in June 2019.  Since, we found no mention of an action plan, a strategy or a modification of the procurement policy.  The last date of modification for the current policy in January 4, 2019. Consequently, this policy is considered broken a the end of the mandate.

December 14, 2018 - "The Government of Canada's Labour Program would like your opinion on what a modern fair wages policy should look like. A fair wages policy typically requires that firms with government contracts pay their employees at least the prevailing wage for their occupation in a given region. The goal of such a policy is to prevent suppliers from competing for government contracts on the basis of substandard wages. [...] In order to move forward with the development of a modern fair wages policy for the federal government, we are seeking your views in three different areas: Who should be covered by this policy?
