Poland - Transposition of the EU Directive on Whistleblowing
The process of transposition has begun in Poland after the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawieckz, made the first step and asked the Ministry of Development, Labor and Technology to prepare proper draft law and make public consultation under his decree. This is a small but important step within the Polish political context.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki's decree can be read here (Polish).
WIN’s has published the English translation of the article ‘Heroes do not have a voice’ by Marcin Waszak at The Stefan Batory Foundation. The article details the difficulties faced by healthcare whistleblowers in Poland and the government efforts to silence them, stating ‘Defying both law and logic, those who reveal the true scale of neglect and errors across Poland’s healthcare system have been silenced since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.’
This is a translation of an article that was published on the Batory Foundation’s forumIdei blog on 10 April 2020 which can be read here.
