2.12.19 - “If re-elected, the Ontario PCs will also introduce legislation to increase [Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)] rates annually, tied to inflation”
The Ford government announced that ODSP rates would increase in September 2022 and that future rates would be adjusted for inflation. While ODSP rates are set to increase, it has not yet been proven that the rates will rise annually, tied to inflation. This promise is therefore considered partially kept.
“To help bring relief and to help offset rising living costs for low-income families and individuals with a disability, Ontario is delivering on the government’s commitment to increase the rates for income support by five per cent beginning in September 2022 for families and persons under the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP). Future ODSP rates will also be adjusted to inflation to help protect ODSP clients against rising costs moving forward.”
“If you are eligible to receive ODSP income support, you will receive a monthly payment. […] The amount you can receive for your ODSP income support is $1,169 a month and may be adjusted based on your situation.”
