Promise History
2.11.05 - “Over the next decade, a re-elected PC government will invest […] $61.6 billion to build and expand public transit”
27-Nov-2023
The commitment to funding was initially made during the Ford government’s first term. In addition to the investments outlined in the provincial budgets, in November 2023 the Province announced a new deal with the City of Toronto which included an additional annual operating funding of $330m over three years for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT and Finch West LRT. This promise is considered in progress, and will last throughout their mandate as long as there remains continued investment in public transit infrastructure.
“As part of this new deal, Ontario has agreed to provide the city with up to $1.2 billion in provincial operating supports over three years and significant capital relief, including: Annual operating funding of $330 million over three years beginning in 2024–2025 for new subway-integrated provincial transit projects — the Eglinton Crosstown LRT and the Finch West LRT”
