Promise History
1.08.002 - Focus immigration pathways on critical labour needs like healthcare, building trades and education, and supporting newcomers to make New Brunswick home

We take note of the federal government’s decision, which reinforces our idea that this promise is still pending.
“A federal decision to slash economic immigration allocations in half for New Brunswick will hurt some key sectors, says Jean-Claude D’Amours, the provincial minister responsible for immigration. (…) “If we want to offer services in the health-care service sector and nursing homes to our seniors, we will need people,” he said, adding that the same goes for building more houses and apartments — more people in the trades will be required”.

Traces of this promise can be found in the mandate letter addressed to the Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, Alyson Townsend. Mandate letters define ministerial objectives. Therefore, this promise remains an ongoing priority, and we will monitor its implementation.
