We note that the rent cap will be maintained at 3% for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, then will be reviewed in May 2026.
“New Brunswick’s rent cap, introduced after the Liberals won last fall, will remain at three per cent for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, Housing Minister David Hickey announced in the legislature Wednesday. (…) When the rent cap was put in place, there was no expiration date, although the percentage is reviewed every year.”
N.B. rent cap will remain at 3% for another year, minister says

We consider this promise fulfilled given that the cap on rent increases has effectively been set at 3% per year.
“The New Brunswick government tabled legislation on Wednesday for a three per cent rent cap, to take effect Feb. 1, 2025”
12-Dec-2024
Traces of this promise can be found in the mandate letter addressed to the Minister of the NB Housing Corporation, David Hickey. Since mandate letters outline the objectives that each appointed minister is expected to fulfill during their term, we consider this promise to be ‘in progress.’”
