On September 4, 2012, Pauline Marois once again made Quebec history by becoming the first female premier of Quebec in addition to being the person who has held the greatest number of ministerial positions. The Parti Québécois promised a good, responsible, honest, sovereigntist government with the slogan “For us to decide” (“À nous de choisir”) and key promises such as the repeal of Bill 78 (Law 12), the cancellation of tuition fee increases and the organization of a Summit on Higher Education. It also proposed three important blocks of promises in the areas of “economy and employability,” “identity and nationalism,” and “government and democracy.” The return of the Parti Québécois to power ended three consecutive mandates for the Quebec Liberal Party.
