Promise History
2.04.001 - “A re-elected PC government will bring more jobs to Southwestern Ontario by moving the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) head office to London”
28-Jan-2025
Steps have been taken to carry out the relocation of the WSIB head office to London, including Bill 2 (the Plan to Build Act 2022). However, the move is due to be completed later in 2025. As the move is not yet complete, this promise is partially kept.
“The new office will open its doors in 2025 with at least 500 workers and is expected to generate at least 2,000 jobs in the London area over the next five years.”

Bill 2 (the Plan to Build Act 2022) contained a repeal of Subsection 1 of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act 1997, which specifies that the WSIB must be located in Toronto. This bill received royal assent on September 8, 2022. Repealing the requirement that WSIB be headquartered in Toronto is the first step towards relocating the WSIB head office to London, Ontario. As the Bill has received royal assent, and the provincial government made another announcement indicating the move to London, this move - and thus the promise - is still in progress.
“The Ontario government is moving forward with the relocation of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board’s (WSIB) head office to London, announcing the selection of the new location at 300 Tartan Drive.”
